Description

Pair Of George III Painted Window Benches anthemion carved frame with scrolled arms and circular tapered reeded legs. In the manner of James Wyatt. The underside chalked B1041. Later painted a pale green and creme colour. A pair of side chairs from the same suite illustrated in Mallet’s Handbook,1994, an armchair from the suite is illustrated Lanto Synge, Mallett Millennium,1999, pl 161, fig 197. Provenance: Stair & Co , London. Sold Sotheby’s New York June 92010 lot 576. Patricia Kluge Collection for 56,250. Hilfiger collection. Newly upholstered in muslin.
