Description
Henry Salt, Engravings of Pagoda at Ramisseran, Ruins of the Port these prints are from a series twenty-four views taken in the Cape, India, Ceylon, The Red Sea, Abyssinia and Egypt. Salt from England was a watercolorist and studied under Joseph Farrington and John Hoppner. In 1802 he did a tour of India and Ceylon as secretary and draughtsman to British peer George Annesley, Vicount Valentia. These two images from the series are of “Pagoda At Ramisseran” and “Ruins Of The Port Of Juanpore On The River Goomtee”. Provenance; W.Graham Arader 3rd. King ff Prussia PA.
