Pair of Fine Regency Rosewood and Bronze Mounted Writing / Games Table rectangular with bronze gallery and ratcheted writing surface over a frieze containing drawers and a game board, raised on a trestle base with saber legs mounted with leaf form mounts. Wear consistent with age and use. Raised section of desktop when down is: 20.38 D x 26.38 W x 30 H. Very good condition. A fine piece. Provenance; Sold Christies New York May 22nd, 2002, Property from the Estate of Doris Merrill Magowan for 41,825 for one. Also, anonymous sale, Sotheby Parke Bernet Inc, New York, May 15, 1976. Acquired by Devenish & Co, Inc, NY 1978. Very similar table illustrated in Ackermann’s The Repository of Arts, January 1814.
